Travelers driving along Hwy 111 manuever through a light rain in Palm Desert, Calif., Sept. 9, 2022. A relentless heat wave across southern California and the Coachella Valley ended Friday with the area's first rainfall in almost three months. Flash flood warnings were issued for parts of the Coachella Valley on Friday afternoon including southeastern Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Indio, and Thermal as heavy rains moved across the desert. Palm Springs had received 0.24 of rain as of 5 p.m. making it the wettest day of the year, according to the National Weather Service.
