September 25, 2023 Washington, D.C. — Amid harvest season, today, Representatives Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Raul Ruiz (D-Calif.), sent a letter urging California Governor Gavin Newsom to expand the eligibility criteria for the Storm Assistance for Immigrants program to include undocumented farmworkers and their families who were impacted by Tropical Storm Hilary. 'The economic impact of such catastrophic crop damage in the middle of harvest season is not only felt by the growers, but also by the farmworkers they employ.
